Hand Outs or Opportunities

For some reason, I couldn’t get this little clip out of my head today while attending church and thinking about everything that’s been going on in my life.  Watch it below and try and think about your own life.

Thinking back on my life, every time I have learned something new (patience, consistency, hard work, basketball skills, computer skills, etc.), they were not simply given to me like a handout down at the homeless shelter.  I was, however, given opportunities to grow and learn in a setting that provided an incredible mentor as well as the right circumstances to be conducive to learning what I needed to learn at that very instant.

I believe this goes hand in hand with Victimitis, or the self-inflicted disease that you are always the victim and you can’t do anything about it.  Looking back on my own life, many times, I was placed in difficult circumstances so I could learn exactly what I was asking to be taught or even “given.”

Has this ever happened to you?
